Yogyakarta Indonesia Itinerary by Fiki Aditya Wirawan ^-^
Yogyakarta Indonesia

by Fiki Aditya Wirawan ^-^
Often an overlooked destination in Indonesia, Yogyakarta is the centre of the arts and culture in the whole of Java. As the education hub of Indonesia, it is home to rich and preserve cultures such as batik, drama, music, ballet, poetry, etc. The Dutch influence is also pretty strong and still visible in terms of food and culture.
Yogyakarta
is pronounced as “jog-ja-karta.” Yogya means suitable, fit, proper,
and karta — prosperous, flourishing. In summary, the name means
“fit to prosper.”
As
it is a huge city, you need to carefully plan your vacation to avoid missing
the best of Yogyakarta. Here’s a suggested itinerary that will surely make your
trip worth every penny!
The
best recommendation is The Phoenix Hotel. I always choose to
stay here whenever I visit Yogyakarta. Food is amazing and the amenities are
fantastic! This hotel is also best for a staycation. It is close to the metro
station and the famous Malioboro Mall. It’s near the airport, too! Wifi is also
free. Best rooms are located infront of the pool.

famous Buddhist Temple and is one of the UNESCO World Heritage sites. It’s a
long walk to the top so make sure you’re well rested the night before Day 1.
This musem showcases the best of the best about the Java culture. Located in
Kaliurang, relics and artifacts from the royal houses of Java are displayed
here. Photos from the extravagant life of the past leaders of the Java can be
found here. Power, ownership, clothing, etc of the Javanese culture are
well explained here. Costumes and letters from the old times were amazingly
preserved in this Museum.
Beukenhof
Restaurant
Located
inside the Museum, this is the best place to have lunch after the extensive
tour. Colonial ambiance that serves mostly European dishes,
it depicts a garden-like afternoon tea in Paris. The restaurant is
open from Tuesday to Sunday, 10:00 – 16:00. They also accept dinner
reservations.
Gadjah
Wong Restaurant
Gadjah
Wong is a restaurant with different themes. Each section offers a unique kind
of music. There’s a traditional section where local musicians will serenade
you. Observe the instruments they use because it’s also a part of the java
culture! Italian, Indonesian and Indian are some of the specialty cuisine you
can choose from. | Address: Jl. Gejayan Soropadan 79-D, Sleman,

located. In here, you will get to learn how to make jewellery from scratch.

Restaurant. Located at Jalan Tegal Gandu #28, it serves the best food like soto

miroso, bami goreng java and a lot more! The restaurant’s ambiance is so
attractive and has a mix of Dutch and Indonesian cuisine.

palace built during the reign of Panangkar an, one of the descendants of its

From here, you will see the sights of Prambanan Temple and Mount Merapi.
Prambanan
Temple
The
most beautiful Hindu Temple in the world. It is a collection
of massive Hindu temples built by the Mataram Kingdom, rulers of central
Java and defeaters of the Sailendra Dynasty. Our tour guide gave
us different myths and legends on how it was made but up until today,
nobody really knows the real story.
Ramayana
Dance Show
A
beautiful ballet performance, Ramayana is a mixture of dance, music and drama
presented in one story. It is about the love story of Rama and Shinta which was
